Meet a Joe: Sharon Lerche

*Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our Corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!*

This week we’d like to introduce you to a member of the Corporate staff, Sharon Lerche. Sharon joined Mosquito Joe after a long career with Taco Bell, 29 years to be exact! She moved from a Restaurant General Manager to a Training Project Manager in charge of making sure training was happening properly in the 25 Taco Bells in her area and training new managers. Mixing her passion for service with extensive experience makes the role a perfect fit.

As the Operations Administrative Assistant, she not only dedicates her experience to the overall organization and efficiency of the operations team at Mosquito Joe, but also to the day-to-day success of our franchisees across the country. We are so excited to have Sharon in the MoJo family!

Here are some fun facts about Sharon, so you can get to know her like we have! Welcome, Sharon!

What do you love most about your job?

I love that my job requires me to work with everyone at some point. Every day I do something different with new challenges, which I am excited to conquer.

What are the biggest strengths professionally that you bring to the Mosquito Joe team?

I am the biggest cheerleader around (maybe because I always wanted to be one in a former life). I always try to stay positive and find solutions. I am also extremely organized and efficient. Once I learn the job, I can get a lot accomplished in a short period of time.

What is your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

“If you decide not to call Mosquito Joe, save this card for swatting.” This shows that we do not take ourselves too seriously and the company is about fun.

How do you like to spend your time outdoors?

Every February we go skiing in West Virginia, I love to lay in the sun next to a swimming pool for when I get too hot. I love to work in my flower beds: planting, weeding, watching stuff grow.

If you could plan your ultimate vacation, where would you go?

I have had several “ultimate vacations.” I have traveled to Alaska and seen whales swim right by my room. I rode in a helicopter over Hawaiian volcanoes and danced at a luau. I rode in a gondola in Venice, visited Mary’s last home in Ephesus, Turkey, and bought roasted lamb on the street in Athens, Greece. My next adventure will be a river cruise starting in New Orleans and ending in Memphis this September. The only thing that would make all these trips even better would be if my kids and grandkids could have come as well.

How attracted are mosquitoes to you?

Mosquitoes absolutely LOVE me. I must have some awesome CO2.

Meet A Joe: Bridget Cardillo

*Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our Corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!**

This week we’d like to introduce you to one of our newest members of the Corporate staff, Bridget Cardillo.  Bridget joined Mosquito Joe after relocating to Virginia Beach from the Atlanta, GA area. She has worked in both agency and corporate settings, including a company that sold mobile accessories franchises. Mixing her love of all things digital along with the franchise business makes the role a perfect fit.

What led you to work for Mosquito Joe?

I relocated from Atlanta to Virginia Beach for personal reasons, but when I found the Digital Marketing Manager position at Mosquito Joe during my job hunt, I knew I’d found a fit professionally as well. From my first interview, I knew I was going to love it and feel at home (insert cheese emoji for how that sounds, but it’s true!). The brand is so much fun, the CEO has a clear vision, and the people I work with every day are awesome.

What are the biggest strengths professionally that you bring to the Mosquito Joe team?

I find one of my biggest strengths is relationship building. Whether that’s with co-workers or franchisees, it’s something I really enjoy. I genuinely like getting to know new people, and I feel it’s an integral part of having a productive and happy work place. My experiences have also shaped who I am professionally. Most recently, I worked at a digital marketing agency for two years. Being able to handle an extremely fast-paced work environment has improved my time management and multi-tasking skills. And my first job out of college was an in-house marketing position for a franchise company. Having the ability to speak some of the same language has helped my role here at Mosquito Joe.

What’s your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

“Did you mean to donate blood on the way to the mailbox?” Every time I explain my job and how fun the brand is, I quote this tagline. It makes me laugh and never fails to make everyone else laugh too!

If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you and why?

Blake Lively! We don’t look alike in the least, but she’s my celebrity girl crush. Fun fact: she played Bridget or ‘Bee’ in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies. It’s clearly meant to be.

If you could plan your ultimate vacation, where would you go?

Everywhere! I absolutely love to travel. If I had to choose one place, it would probably be Thailand. They took a trip there on a recent season of The Bachelor (guilty pleasure!) and it just looked so dreamy.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

If I could speak in a British accent for the rest of my life and not sound ridiculous, I would. Also, I can quote the entire Mean Girls movie.

What is your favorite part about your position at Mosquito Joe?

With such a fun brand, excited and engaged franchisees, and an amazing staff at Corporate, there are just endless possibilities on what I’m able to explore and do. It’s a marketer’s dream job – being part of this team that is able to innovate and directly contribute to the growth of the business owners and success of the brand.

What is your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

It’s a toss-up between “Stop smacking yourself in the face.” and “Tired of being the main course?” They’re just so funny – easy to visualize and relatable.

How do you like to spend your time outdoors?

I just relocated from Tucson, Arizona to Virginia Beach, so my new answer is being at the beach! I enjoy anywhere I can take my dogs and love being in the backyard for barbecues and spending time with family and friends.

If you could invite three people to a party, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

John F. Kennedy because I’d love to get his thoughts on the goings-on of today. My maternal grandfather who I never met and would love to opportunity to get to know. And Ellen DeGeneres because she’s hilarious and generous.

If you were shipwrecked, what three items would you want with you?

Solar-powered eBook reader, a water filter, and a large box of matches.

How attracted are mosquitoes to you?

If my sisters are with me, I’m not nearly as attractive to mosquitoes as they are, and I’m completely okay with that!

Meet a Joe – Eric Strumpf

**Our Meet a Joe blog series introduces you to one of the people that make Mosquito Joe great. From our technicians to our Corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees, we think our company is full of people you ought to know!**

Meet Eric Strumpf

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Strumpf, owner of Mosquito Joe of Ft. Collins-Greeley in Colorado. Eric is in his first year as a Mosquito Joe franchisee and will soon be retiring from a 20-year career in the United States Air Force. Before he joined the Mosquito Joe family as a franchise owner, Eric was already a four-year customer! He was so satisfied with the service and interested in the solution Mosquito Joe provides communities, that he decided to become a part of that solution and buy a franchise.

Extracurriculars

A bit of a renaissance man, Eric’s interests and hobbies spread far beyond mosquito control. In addition to his career as a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force, he recently completed his MBA degree at UNC Chapel Hill, started to play the violin, and enjoys lacrosse and exercise. This is not to mention his wife and three children (8, 21, and 27 years old) and all the activities that fatherhood entails. Eric is also an author, writing For My Daughter: Lessons for Life’s Journey in 2012.

Eric’s Mosquito Joe Business

Eric’s Mosquito Joe operation is unique because although his franchise location is in Colorado, he and his wife live full-time in North Carolina where they moved recently after years in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. Family in the Ft. Collins area and unavailable Mosquito Joe territories locally both contributed to Eric’s decision to take his business west. Jaime, Eric’s sister-in-law, is the office manager that keeps things running day-to-day. Hers will most likely be the  friendly voice you hear on the phone if you call for service.

Eric is the first to admit that there are challenges to managing a Mosquito Joe franchise this way, “Overseeing our territory in Colorado while geographically separated has been very challenging. There’s the daily issues that you either can’t deal with in person or worse, go undetected because you’re not there to see them for yourself. I’ve been out there six times this season and each trip is jammed with value-added efforts from beginning to end.  I look forward to post-retirement so I can pop in any time I want and maybe even have some down time to just enjoy being there.”

After his retirement from the Air Force, Eric’s main focus will be on the future growth of Mosquito Joe. He is going to continue developing the northern Colorado market where elevation is lower and mosquitoes are more of a pest than they are in the mountainous regions to the south.

Mosquito Joe of Ft. Collins-Greeley provides mosquito control services to the Ft. Collins, Greeley, Larimer County, Weld County, and Boulder areas. If you’re interested in mosquito elimination services to rid your yard of pesky mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas, visit their website or call their office at 970-316-0770 for more information.

Meet A Joe: Kyle Jones, Graphic Designer

*Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!**

This week we’d like to introduce you to the newest member of our corporate team, Kyle Jones.  Kyle attended Iowa State University and graduated in 2015.  She then began working at an enhanced event agency that specialized in in-store marketing where she created collateral for food demo stands at wholesale club store, such as Sam’s Club and BJ’s.  A Chicago native, Kyle joins Mosquito Joe as graphic designer.  She helps with designing all of the eye-catching promotional products we use, advertisements for our franchisees, and franchise development advertising as well.  We are so excited to have Kyle in the MoJo family and on our marketing team!

Here are some fun facts about Kyle, so you can get to know her like we have! Welcome, Kyle!

What is your favorite part about your position at Mosquito Joe?

While I’ve just started, my favorite part about working at Mosquito Joe is the creative freedom I have. I work on everything from business cards to advertisements and banner stands to magnets. I get to touch every aspect of the design.

If you had to explain your job to a five year old, how would you describe it?

I get to make the company look pretty!

What is your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

“Playtime is back.” because Mosquito Joe is all about having fun and enjoying the outside again.

If you could donate $1 million to any charity, what would it be and why?

I would donate to the Trevor Project, which provides suicide and crisis prevention for LGBTQ young people. They provide valuable resources to young people nationwide who are being bullied and may not have anywhere else to turn to for help. I feel very strongly that no one should be bullied for any reason and all should feel loved.

If you could invite three people to a party, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

JK Rowling, Julia Childs, and Lucille Ball. They are all strong women who had great success in their industries. We would listen to magical stories, eat extremely well, and constantly be laughing.

If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you and why?

Emma Stone because she is quirky and down-to-earth. She’s not afraid to laugh at herself either, which is a must if you’re playing me!

If you were shipwrecked, what three items would you want to land on shore with you?

  1. My glasses otherwise I would be shipwrecked AND blind!
  2. A bottle of good wine that magically refills itself.
  3. The Harry Potter series.

Welcome to the Mosquito Joe family, Kyle!
