21 States in 21 Months

When we started franchising in January of 2013.

The past two years have been a whirlwind of planning, launching, growing, and of course making outside fun again. When we started franchising we set some high goals for ourselves because we knew this business opportunity was not only smart, but that what we do is a much needed service in communities across the United States. Last week, we surpassed a big goal and we’re so excited to share our news with you.

When we started franchising in January of 2013, we set a goal to sell 90 territories by the end of 2014. At the time it was hard to imagine, but last week we did it. To date we have sold 102 territories (63 of those in 2014!) and we still have 3 months left in the year! This is such a huge milestone for us in more ways than one. It makes us most proud of the franchisees we’ve recruited in these short 21 months. Mosquito Joe locations in 21 states are keeping customers safe and itch free and allowing them to take back their yards, barns, farms, gardens, little league fields, parks and even a zoo. But not only that, they’re amazing people and we’re excited to work with them each and every day.  You can read all about about crossing into triple digit territories here!

If you’re reading this and you’re curious about the opportunity, all I can say is start exploring. Meet A Joe: Mosquito Joe of East Memphis

**Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!**

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Clark. Steve has been an entrepreneur since the age of twelve when he starting mowing lawns in his neighborhood with his brother. He eventually turned that concept into a successful lawn and landscaping business, while teaching high school agriculture and biology on the side.  After deciding to stop teaching and put full energy into his business, he became aware of mosquito control treatments and saw the opportunity to add a complementary service to his business portfolio.  After reading an article about Mosquito Joe in Kiplinger magazine the wheels started turning, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Meet Steve Clark of Mosquito Joe of East Memphis, TN

Steve graduated from the University of Tennessee with Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, where he continued to mow lawns and keep yards looking pristine. After graduation he started his lawn company Southern Lawn and Pest Inc. where his interest turned to weed control and fertilization and other practices that help maintain the overall health of a lawn.

Flash forward a few years…after attending a concert with his daughter that had been treated for mosquitoes, he realized how wonderful it was to enjoy being outdoors withoutWith his clients established on the lawn care side swatting and just how much Memphis could benefit. With his clients established on the lawn care side, he could not only keep their lawns healthy, but he could keep his customers healthy (and itch free!) too.

“We decided to add a Mosquito Joe division to our Southern Lawn & Pest business because we knew it would be a perfect fit for our clients,” says Steve, “We also see it as a great opportunity to reach out to more potential lawn care customers through Mosquito Joe. Each business is really going to help grow the other.”

Mosquito Joe of East Memphis launched in the spring of 2014 and Steve maintains his southern charm with his business. He prides himself in putting the customer first and giving great service at a good value.

What You Helped Us Accomplish for Mosquito Control Awareness Week 2014

In a previous blog post, we reminded you that each year the third week of June is declared National Mosquito Control Awareness Week by the American Mosquito Control Association. The purpose of this week is to raise awareness of the importance of mosquito control in our country, to educate people on the risks of mosquito-borne diseases and to help bring to light solutions for managing the problems we’re faced with during the spring and summer months where mosquitoes are out and about.

This year for Mosquito Control Awareness Week, Mosquito Joe locations across the country partnered with local blood donation centers for our Beat the Bloodsuckers campaign. For every new customer that signed up for a mosquito treatment service from Mosquito Joe during Mosquito Control Awareness Week, we donated 10% of the sale to local blood donation centers.  Around the Corporate Office, we also took the opportunity to go donate blood ourselves (see picture above).

We love taking this opportunity each year to support our communities in a new way, to Beat the Bloodsuckers during Mosquito Control Awareness Week.  We want to say thank you to all the blood donation centers who partnered with us this year.  Thanks to the best customers in the world, Mosquito Joe was able to donate over $2,000 in just one week to these centers across the country to help with the amazing work they do each and every day. Thank you to our customers for helping make Mosquito Control Awareness Week 2014 such a memorable one and for your continued support of Mosquito Joe. And of course, thank you to all of our wonderful franchisees who participated in this special campaign with us and helped to make a difference in their community during Mosquito Control Awareness Week as well as throughout the spring and summer months.  As our company continues to grow, we look forward to making an even bigger difference in 2015.
