Mosquito Joe in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance

Post of Mosquito Joe in Kiplinger's Personal Finance

This month we are more than thrilled to see Mosquito Joe franchisees Kurt and Melissa Godwin featured in the November issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, which recently hit newsstands. There’s a saying out there that any press is good press – well, we’re not sure about that but we are sure that a feature article in a magazine like Kiplinger’s is a great accomplishment.

Kiplinger’s article, Off to a Fresh Start, invites readers to explore “hitting the reset button” on careers in midlife. Mosquito Joe of Howard County (MD) owners Kurt and Melissa did just that in 2012 when they not only got married, they opened their mosquito control business together. Kurt was a commercial pilot for over two decades, and Melissa worked for the state of Pennsylvania for 25 years. They wanted something they could do together and gave them more flexibility with their schedules.  Insert Mosquito Joe’s great lifestyle, seasonal business opportunity as a perfect solution. In the article the couple talks about the benefits to owning their own business and providing a much needed service. “I love working for myself,” says Melissa. “I control everything I do. I’m helping our customers keep their kids safe outside. I feel like the job I’m doing now is for a purpose.”

We couldn’t be more excited for the Godwins – for their early success with their business, for the great things they’re doing for their community, and for their special feature in Kiplinger’s.  Read the full article here.

This has been a great year for Mosquito Joe. We opened 15 new locations and are continuing to grow our mosquito control businesses nationwide. We’ve been able to watch all our new franchisees make a huge decision to change their life and start something new.

As we edge into the last quarter of the year, we tend to take annual stock of where we are in life – our job, where we live, our health. If you’re reconsidering your career or ready for a change, perhaps franchising is something you should consider. And while mosquito control may seem out of your skill set, you actually don’t need any pest control experience to get started. That’s part of what’s so great about a franchise system – we provide all the training and systems for you! So think about us. We’ll be here…and growing. And in the mean time, make sure you contact your local Joe to keep your yard mosquito-free.
