It’s only two days until Valentine’s Day and you completely forgot to get a gift for that special someone. Depending on your situation, you may be fearing imprisonment in the doghouse if you don’t act quickly, or you may be experiencing a last minute impulse to do something great for someone you love.
There are tons of great ideas out there for things to do or give for Valentine’s Day (special dinner, flowers, chocolate, jewelry, etc) but some of those just feel a little….standard. So here are 3 great, last-minute ideas for your one or many Valentines this year that will let them know you really appreciate them (despite waiting until the last minute). Whether you’re celebrating a spouse/significant other, friend, or family member, you can’t go wrong with any of these:
Give a card: Seriously, that’s it – a card. Not an e-card but an actual, paper card. This is a totally under-rated gift but as we spend more and more time online and communicating through email, it’s increasingly nice to receive a thoughtful, old-school card with a hand-written note inside. Make sure you include a thoughtful message inside (need help?).
Plan an activity: No matter who you’re giving to (spouse, boy/girlfriend, parent, sibling, friend), think of something they love to do and plan around that. You could take them to a winery for a day trip or buy them a round of go-karting. Perhaps it’s a cooking class or a photography class. Get creative.
Think inside your own home: If your Valentine lives with you, there are a slew of creative and unique ideas for making life around the house easier, so you can focus on enjoying time together instead of chores or “to-do” lists. Give the gift of cleaning or set up a professional cleaning service to take care of it for you. In lieu of roses, how about some new landscaping to brighten your outdoor space? Does your Valentine enjoy gardening or entertaining outdoors? How about a guarantee for a mosquito-free yard for the spring and summer? Obviously we know a great mosquito control service provider for that (just call us and we can provide a gift certificate). Look around your own home space – inside and out – and you’re likely to come up with plenty of great ideas.
