We can see it now. You’ve turned the heat off, opened the windows, and you can hear the faint sound of a lawn mower down the street. You step out into your backyard to breathe in the spring air and then all of a sudden…the swatting begins. Yep, it is that time of year, the one that has our office buzzing! (Pun intended.) The 2013 Mosquito Joe spray season has begun, which means it’s time to get rid of those mosquitoes before they get comfortable around your home! The technicians are excited, the vans are loaded, and they’re making their way to neighborhoods as I type to bring relief to you and your neighbors.
If you’re an avid reader of our blog, The Buzz on Mosquito Control, you know we aim to keep you updated, informed, and educated on mosquitoes. If we can make you laugh every once in a while, all the better. We often joke about annoying bugs, and they are certainly an unwelcome part of the warmer weather, but they are more than just a nuisance. They can actually be a serious health risk to you and your family. We aren’t far into the season and Richardson, TX is already making the news with positive test results for West Nile Virus in mosquitoes trapped in different areas of the city. This is an indication that this mosquito season could be like 2012, which was full of West Nile Virus reports from 48 states – over 5,300 cases in total and the highest number since 2003. The severe symptoms of West Nile can include high fever, headache, neck stiffness, stupor, disorientation, coma, tremors, convulsions, muscle weakness, vision loss, numbness and paralysis so it is not to be taken lightly. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the best way to avoid the disease is to prevent mosquito bites all together. Mosquito control is critical this year, and Mosquito Joe’s barrier sprays will make sure your yard is safe and enjoyable.
This season is especially exciting for us as we are opening new locations across the United States. Mosquito Joe began selling franchises in late 2012 and we are so happy to announce some of our new locations!
