Sisters Day 2017

Sisters fill many roles in our lives. Growing up, they’re your partner in crime, someone you can go to for advice, and oftentimes, your best friend. But the love doesn’t stop once you move out of the house. Sisterhood is a bond that lasts forever! August 6th marked National Sisters Day, and although we are a little late to the game, we figured it’s never too late to celebrate some of the special ladies in our lives! We toured the office and asked some of our staff to tell us what they love most about their sisters.

Sisters Day 2017
Michael Wagner and sister

My sister Donna is pretty spectacular.  She is a personal trainer in Lexington, Kentucky.  She is the proud mother of a 17 year old boy and a 13 year old girl.  She is a prolific runner having run multiple marathons and many endurance races, and is just an overall great person. – Michael Wagner, President of Pool Scouts

My sister Roxanne!  She does job placement for special education students that are in high school. Super intelligent. Growing up she was always a good shoulder to cry on.  I could talk for hours and she wouldn’t say anything, she would just listen to me. She has one of the biggest hearts that I know of.  – Jake Vinluan, Franchise Business Coach

My sister is just the best person in the world.  She is the nicest person I’ve ever met and always tries to see the good in everyone she meets.  She is a terrific mother and has raised three incredible, strong, kind daughters who will grow up to be terrific mothers and role models just like her. My sister is a great listener and my favorite sounding board.  She always helps me to see situations from every angle and helps me to stay grounded when life throws me a wrinkle.  She’s always there for me and I can’t imagine my life without her in it. – Jodi Ramoino, Director of Franchise Development

Sisters Day 2017
Jayme Sabo and sisters

My favorite thing about my older sister is her confidence. She believes in who she is and what she does and I love that about her! My favorite thing about my little sister is her eagerness and willingness to grow and evolve. She faces challenges head-on, first looking inward. Both my sisters have impacted me in their own unique ways. Because of them, I’m ever-changing, evolving, and yet confident. – Jayme Sabo, Director of Marketing

Growing up with my sister, Caitlyn, meant growing up with the ultimate travel buddy. We grew up traveling every summer and winter, but when we both started working and attending college, it happened less and less. We always throw around ideas of places to go, but inevitably it never happened since we had a heavy workload. One summer day, around 10 pm at night, my sister called me out of the blue to ask if I wanted to go to Disney…aka the happiest place on earth…TOMORROW! The room and tickets were already paid for, I just had to figure out how to get there. By midnight we were booking our flights, and by noon we had met up in Sunshine State, Florida. So far, this was the most impulsive trip I have ever taken and I would not have asked to go with anyone else. I love my sister because no matter how crazy life gets, she is always reminding me to enjoy the little things and live life to the fullest. – Amanda Liddell, Search Engine Marketing Specialist

Sisters Day 2017
Bridget Cardillo and sister

So my little sister Emily is actually the funniest person ever. Her dry wit and quick zingers keep me laughing – so hard that I’m in tears I might add. Even though we sound and look alike, she’s way cooler than me and I just love her! – Bridget Cardillo, Digital Marketing Manager

Meet a Joe: Leigh Hurst

*Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our Corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!*

This week we’d like to introduce you to a member of the Corporate staff, Leigh Hurst. A Norfolk native, Leigh joined Mosquito Joe in March as our Administrative Assistant. She brought with her years of customer service experience from the restaurant industry and even spent some time as a yoga instructor. Whether it’s coordinating events, keeping the kitchen stocked, helping our franchise partners across the country, or just managing the office in general, Leigh is integral to the success of Mosquito Joe.

Here are some fun facts about Leigh, so you can get to know her like we have!

What led you to work for Mosquito Joe?

I heard of a position that was available here, came in for an interview, and thoroughly enjoyed every one I met. Plus, the office is a pretty cool space.

What is your favorite part about your position at Mosquito Joe?

Every day there is some thing different. Some days it is about the snacks, but most days, it is the people I get to interact with.

What are the biggest strengths professionally that you bring to the Mosquito Joe team?

I’ve worked in customer service since day one at my first job. I thoroughly enjoy helping others and meeting people.

What’s your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

“Itching is so last season”…well isn’t it?!

If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you and why?

Natalie Portman, she can pull off a shaved head.

If you could plan your ultimate vacation, where would you go?

The list “where I wouldn’t go” is much shorter than the list “where I would go”. The ultimate vacation is when there is no end to exploring. Bouncing from country to country exploring sights, food and building friendships while submersed in different cultures is a dream.

How do you like to spend your time outdoors?

It depends on the season! Summer is my favorite time of the year, so any and every thing outdoors. Winter out West is beyond beautiful, especially while snowboarding. Fall and Spring in the East are beautiful times to watch the change in the seasons from Mother Nature.

How attracted are mosquitoes to you?

I was born and raised in Churchland/Portsmouth, VA…by mosquitoes.

If you were shipwrecked, what three items would you want to land on shore with you?

The ship, my water filter, and ice cream.

If you could invite three people to a party, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

Dolly Parton, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Caitlin Cimini. Once you google who they are and watch about 30 seconds of them speaking, you would want them at the party too!

Meet a Joe: Amanda Liddell

*Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our Corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!*

This week we’d like to introduce you to a member of the Corporate staff, Amanda Liddell. Amanda joined Mosquito Joe after graduating from Old Dominion University in December of 2016 with two business degrees; one in marketing and another in business analytics. Continually working throughout her college career in digital marketing, Amanda gained experience in analytics, social media, marketing materials, and client relationships. As the Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Specialist, Amanda works with the digital team on all Mosquito Joe franchisee websites, search engine optimization, pay per click campaigns, digital advertising, and more! Her work is vital to the day-to-day support of our franchise owners nationwide, making sure they are well represented across the world wide web. Some of her other hobbies include Marvel, DIY projects, and travel.

Here are some fun facts about Amanda, so you can get to know her like we have. Welcome, Amanda!

What led you to work for Mosquito Joe?

When interviewing with the company, I instantly felt a connection with the employees and was comfortable around them. During my time with Kevin, the CEO, I could hear in his voice how excited he was for the company’s future. He didn’t just explain where he wanted to be in 5 years, he explained his vision and just how he was going to make it happen. With help from his associates, Kevin has created a specific atmosphere that is rare to find. He challenges you to be innovative and work hard, but also to have fun while doing it. It is reasons like this that made me choose Mosquito Joe.

What is your favorite part about your position at Mosquito Joe?

My favorite part of my position is the optimization of franchisee websites. The management team has so many great ideas, I’m excited to implement those ideas to see the positive effects they will have down the road.

What is your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

My favorite tagline is “Itching for a solution?” As someone who is personally allergic to mosquitoes, I am always looking for new ways to stop the itching! Once mosquito season hits, I usually find myself inside just so I don’t have to deal with them. Now that I know about this solution, I can’t wait to get back in my pool and enjoy the weather.

How do you like to spend your time outdoors?

Since we live near the beach, I love to catch some rays of sunshine whenever I can! Whether its laying out on the beach, biking across the city, or going for a hike.

How attracted are mosquitoes to you?

If there was a scale of 1-10…. I would have to say 15. When it is mosquito season, it seems like I can’t walk outside without getting bit!

If you were shipwrecked, what three items would you want to land on shore with you?

My record collection, hand crank generator, and a tropical plant that produces fruit. People always joke about private islands… being stranded wouldn’t be ideal but who wouldn’t love to be surrounded by music, fruit and the big blue ocean!

Meet a Joe: Sharon Lerche

*Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our Corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!*

This week we’d like to introduce you to a member of the Corporate staff, Sharon Lerche. Sharon joined Mosquito Joe after a long career with Taco Bell, 29 years to be exact! She moved from a Restaurant General Manager to a Training Project Manager in charge of making sure training was happening properly in the 25 Taco Bells in her area and training new managers. Mixing her passion for service with extensive experience makes the role a perfect fit.

As the Operations Administrative Assistant, she not only dedicates her experience to the overall organization and efficiency of the operations team at Mosquito Joe, but also to the day-to-day success of our franchisees across the country. We are so excited to have Sharon in the MoJo family!

Here are some fun facts about Sharon, so you can get to know her like we have! Welcome, Sharon!

What do you love most about your job?

I love that my job requires me to work with everyone at some point. Every day I do something different with new challenges, which I am excited to conquer.

What are the biggest strengths professionally that you bring to the Mosquito Joe team?

I am the biggest cheerleader around (maybe because I always wanted to be one in a former life). I always try to stay positive and find solutions. I am also extremely organized and efficient. Once I learn the job, I can get a lot accomplished in a short period of time.

What is your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

“If you decide not to call Mosquito Joe, save this card for swatting.” This shows that we do not take ourselves too seriously and the company is about fun.

How do you like to spend your time outdoors?

Every February we go skiing in West Virginia, I love to lay in the sun next to a swimming pool for when I get too hot. I love to work in my flower beds: planting, weeding, watching stuff grow.

If you could plan your ultimate vacation, where would you go?

I have had several “ultimate vacations.” I have traveled to Alaska and seen whales swim right by my room. I rode in a helicopter over Hawaiian volcanoes and danced at a luau. I rode in a gondola in Venice, visited Mary’s last home in Ephesus, Turkey, and bought roasted lamb on the street in Athens, Greece. My next adventure will be a river cruise starting in New Orleans and ending in Memphis this September. The only thing that would make all these trips even better would be if my kids and grandkids could have come as well.

How attracted are mosquitoes to you?

Mosquitoes absolutely LOVE me. I must have some awesome CO2.

Meet A Joe: Bridget Cardillo

*Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our Corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!**

This week we’d like to introduce you to one of our newest members of the Corporate staff, Bridget Cardillo.  Bridget joined Mosquito Joe after relocating to Virginia Beach from the Atlanta, GA area. She has worked in both agency and corporate settings, including a company that sold mobile accessories franchises. Mixing her love of all things digital along with the franchise business makes the role a perfect fit.

What led you to work for Mosquito Joe?

I relocated from Atlanta to Virginia Beach for personal reasons, but when I found the Digital Marketing Manager position at Mosquito Joe during my job hunt, I knew I’d found a fit professionally as well. From my first interview, I knew I was going to love it and feel at home (insert cheese emoji for how that sounds, but it’s true!). The brand is so much fun, the CEO has a clear vision, and the people I work with every day are awesome.

What are the biggest strengths professionally that you bring to the Mosquito Joe team?

I find one of my biggest strengths is relationship building. Whether that’s with co-workers or franchisees, it’s something I really enjoy. I genuinely like getting to know new people, and I feel it’s an integral part of having a productive and happy work place. My experiences have also shaped who I am professionally. Most recently, I worked at a digital marketing agency for two years. Being able to handle an extremely fast-paced work environment has improved my time management and multi-tasking skills. And my first job out of college was an in-house marketing position for a franchise company. Having the ability to speak some of the same language has helped my role here at Mosquito Joe.

What’s your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

“Did you mean to donate blood on the way to the mailbox?” Every time I explain my job and how fun the brand is, I quote this tagline. It makes me laugh and never fails to make everyone else laugh too!

If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you and why?

Blake Lively! We don’t look alike in the least, but she’s my celebrity girl crush. Fun fact: she played Bridget or ‘Bee’ in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies. It’s clearly meant to be.

If you could plan your ultimate vacation, where would you go?

Everywhere! I absolutely love to travel. If I had to choose one place, it would probably be Thailand. They took a trip there on a recent season of The Bachelor (guilty pleasure!) and it just looked so dreamy.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

If I could speak in a British accent for the rest of my life and not sound ridiculous, I would. Also, I can quote the entire Mean Girls movie.
