- Bring in bugs: Parasitic wasps are beneficial bugs that kill flies without bothering people or pets. Their eggs develop inside fly pupae to eat them before they hatch.
- Homemade fly-begone spray: Mix four cups of apple cider vinegar with 20 drops each of rosemary, basil, and peppermint essential oil. Add a squirt of dish soap and two of vegetable oil. Shake and spray.

Flies are extraordinarily well-adapted to survival. They feed on waste and can travel up to 20 miles. The only way to permanently eliminate flies in and around your home is to stop attracting them. - Store food carefully: Seal food away in airtight storage. While they like garbage, they’re happy to dine on your food.
- Repair leaky faucets: Flies are drawn to wet sites, leaky faucets, and dishwater. Rinse dishes promptly and put them in the dishwasher.
- Clean up after pets: Flies love the litter box and dog doo as places to lay their eggs. Maggots make a feast of your pets’ droppings. (Eww!)
- Maintain good housekeeping: Promptly wipe up spills and crumbs and dispose of old food properly.
