Is Our All-Natural Treatment Right for You?

At Mosquito Joe, we understand the importance of having options when it comes to pest control. We offer various treatments to cater to the needs of your family and your yard. In addition to our barrier spray and misting system options, our all-natural solution is a great way to keep your plants and flowers happy and healthy. To better determine if our all-natural treatment is right for you, read more about what this treatment option has to offer:

What is it?

Mosquito Joe’s all-natural treatment is an alternative to our longer-lasting synthetic barrier treatment. There are two spray options, one consists of garlic and the other of peppermint and rosemary essential oils. However, similar to our traditional treatment, trained technicians use a backpack sprayer in order to apply the all-natural formula to the foliage on your property. This allows for precise application and effectively eliminates mosquitoes from your yard.

What can I expect?

More frequent than our synthetic barrier treatment, trained technicians treat your property on a 14-day cycle to provide effective outdoor pest control. The garlic, peppermint and rosemary immediately begin to repel mosquitoes once the treatment is applied. These aromas will continue to deter mosquitoes from your property and therefore keep them from biting you and your family!

Who should get the all-natural treatment?

The all-natural treatment is suited for all properties, but certain customers would benefit from this option. Those who have fruit or vegetable-bearing plants often utilize this alternative. Our expert technicians inspect each property, ensuring they apply the treatment responsibly and effectively while avoiding harm to gardens. In addition to fruit and vegetable-bearing plants, delicate flowering plants are also carefully considered. Also, those concerned with the bees and other pollinators on their property could opt for the all-natural treatment. Our Pollinator Protection Program is our conscious effort to minimize harm done to our buzzing friend, the bee, while knocking out our pesky foe, the mosquito. When properly applied, the garlic or peppermint and rosemary treatments do not cause harm to plants or pollinators. The all-natural treatment is a viable option for customers with koi ponds or bird baths on their property.

Those who may be sensitive to using chemicals on their property or hesitant about the traditional synthetic option could opt for our all-natural treatment. Additionally, this treatment is an option for customers who have neighbors who are sensitive to chemicals or have severe allergies to chemical treatments. Our garlic and essential oil options contain no synthetic chemicals. This allows for customers to eliminate mosquitoes while remaining confident that their property is free of chemicals.

We strive to provide quality pest control solutions and we have a satisfaction guarantee in place to ensures you’re happy with your service. If interested in our all-natural option or any of our other pest control treatments, reach out to your local Mosquito Joe today for more details or a free property assessment and quote!

Don’t Cancel Your Mosquito Control Service Too Early!

Although the weather is warm and the sun is shining, fall is just around the corner. Summer months coming to an end does not necessarily mean we’re saying goodbye to warmer temperatures, or those mosquitoes, just yet. Canceling your mosquito control service might be on the top of your to-do list since cooler months are ahead and kids are back in school, but don’t let dropping temperatures trick you into ending your mosquito control service early! It’s important to continue with your barrier spray treatments so you can maintain a protected outdoor area for you and your family. After all, the air will be cooler and the humidity will subside; making it the perfect time of year to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine or watch the kids play in the backyard after school. We wanted to share some information around the importance of completing the full season of barrier spray treatments before you consider canceling service.

If fall is quickly approaching, why continue service?

The last few sprays are some of the most important for a couple of reasons. Mosquitoes can be tricky creatures. They lay eggs, hibernate, and can survive some pretty frigid temperatures. The only things necessary in order for eggs to hatch are water and temperatures consistently above 50 degrees. This means mosquitoes may be continually living and breeding in your yard all year long. If you end your season early, female mosquitoes will have a chance to not only make your yard a home, but also to lay more eggs before the first freeze. Up to 300 eggs at a time to be exact! It is absolutely vital that our technicians get rid of those mosquitoes and mosquito larvae, by treating unavoidable areas of standing water which will keep your yard winterized. This will also keep ticks and fleas at bay.

It’s important to continue your barrier spray treatment as long as possible so you can continue to enjoy your yard as long as possible and ensure an itch-free start to 2019. If you have any questions about your season, contact your local Mosquito Joe, and they’ll be happy to explain the process to you.

Fall sports or events coming up? We’ve got you covered.

We offer commercial and special event sprays which could be great for fall sports and events. If your kiddos play football or soccer and you’d like an itch-free playing field, don’t hesitate to give us a call this fall! Because let’s face it, there is nothing worse than trying to cheer on your kids and enjoy a good game of ball while swatting away those pesky mosquitoes. We’d love to continue to partner with local sports leagues in our communities and ensure everyone’s eye is on the ball, not their ankles. Have an outside wedding or birthday party on the horizon? We can help keep mosquitoes off of your guest list so you can enjoy that special time together with family and friends. Call your local Mosquito Joe for more details!

Don’t let those mosquitoes trick you into ending service early or overlooking any commercials or special event sprays that may be necessary. You’ll thank us later!

Meet a Joe: Josh Raulerson

*Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our Corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!*

Josh comes to us from the sandy shores of Titusville, FL. Joining the corporate team in March as a graphic designer, Josh brings his passion for photography and visual arts to Mosquito Joe. His work has been used for print materials, social media, and even beer labeling! With his expertise, Josh has helped develop creative solutions and materials for the corporate staff as well as franchisees.

Here are some fun facts about Josh:

What led you to work for Mosquito Joe?

After my military career and college experience, I wanted to find a position that integrated structure and fun; a work-hard, play-hard mentality. Truth be told, I’m a structured kind of guy. I love organization and a well-developed plan, but I also like to have fun and take creative liberties that allow me grow as an artist and as a professional. Mosquito Joe has supported that lifestyle since day one.

What is your favorite part about your position at Mosquito Joe?

My favorite part about being a Graphic Designer here at Mosquito Joe would have to be the satisfaction I get from being a part of something bigger than myself. This role has allowed me to become a valuable asset in a modern and competitive business environment.

What are the biggest strengths professionally that you bring to the Mosquito Joe team?

As a professional, I think some of my biggest strengths include the willingness to learn, the desire to grow, and the determination to make it happen. I’m a doer! I consider myself to be a workhorse with no fear of doing what it takes to get the job done.

What’s your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

I believe that “Stop smacking yourself in the face” is my favorite tagline. The tagline is funny, effective, and fits right into the Mosquito Joe brand personality. It’s a powerful play on words connecting a mental thought and physical emotion with the reader. When you think mosquitoes, you think about smacking them to avoid the bite.

If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you and why?

I think I would have to choose Chris Pratt as my character. He seems like a likeable person with a warm onscreen presence. I can relate to him being quirky, charming, and the comic relief. He can be serious when he needs to be, and his positive outlook on life is something we have in common.

If you could plan your ultimate vacation, where would you go?

My ultimate vacation doesn’t necessarily have to be a certain location. I see value in visiting any location around the world I’ve never seen. I did a good amount of travel from my time in the Navy and can honestly say at the end of the day I just appreciate a cold beer, a good time, and nice view… That is the long version of saying, I don’t know where I would go.

How do you like to spend your time outdoors?

Most of my outdoor time can be spent at the beach, on a random hike/bike ride, or walking my dogs in my neighborhood. Because my profession customarily puts me at desk, I really try to spend as much time as I can outdoors. I love nature and all the wonderful things this planet has to offer, so I make it a part of my daily routine to step away from technology and go for a walk in the sun. I am also a freelance photographer, so it’s not uncommon to find me outdoors taking pictures of anything from local events to landscapes and wildlife.

How attracted are mosquitoes to you?

Not really sure how to answer that, but if you’re asking if I’m immune to mosquito bites, I’m not. They are terrible. They are a nuisance and can really kill the outdoor vibe.

If you were shipwrecked, what three items would you want to land on shore with you?

  1. 4-6 inch fixed blade knife
  2. Fire Starter (Flint and Steel)
  3. Volleyball
