Meet a Joe: Josh Raulerson

*Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our Corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!*

Josh comes to us from the sandy shores of Titusville, FL. Joining the corporate team in March as a graphic designer, Josh brings his passion for photography and visual arts to Mosquito Joe. His work has been used for print materials, social media, and even beer labeling! With his expertise, Josh has helped develop creative solutions and materials for the corporate staff as well as franchisees.

Here are some fun facts about Josh:

What led you to work for Mosquito Joe?

After my military career and college experience, I wanted to find a position that integrated structure and fun; a work-hard, play-hard mentality. Truth be told, I’m a structured kind of guy. I love organization and a well-developed plan, but I also like to have fun and take creative liberties that allow me grow as an artist and as a professional. Mosquito Joe has supported that lifestyle since day one.

What is your favorite part about your position at Mosquito Joe?

My favorite part about being a Graphic Designer here at Mosquito Joe would have to be the satisfaction I get from being a part of something bigger than myself. This role has allowed me to become a valuable asset in a modern and competitive business environment.

What are the biggest strengths professionally that you bring to the Mosquito Joe team?

As a professional, I think some of my biggest strengths include the willingness to learn, the desire to grow, and the determination to make it happen. I’m a doer! I consider myself to be a workhorse with no fear of doing what it takes to get the job done.

What’s your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

I believe that “Stop smacking yourself in the face” is my favorite tagline. The tagline is funny, effective, and fits right into the Mosquito Joe brand personality. It’s a powerful play on words connecting a mental thought and physical emotion with the reader. When you think mosquitoes, you think about smacking them to avoid the bite.

If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you and why?

I think I would have to choose Chris Pratt as my character. He seems like a likeable person with a warm onscreen presence. I can relate to him being quirky, charming, and the comic relief. He can be serious when he needs to be, and his positive outlook on life is something we have in common.

If you could plan your ultimate vacation, where would you go?

My ultimate vacation doesn’t necessarily have to be a certain location. I see value in visiting any location around the world I’ve never seen. I did a good amount of travel from my time in the Navy and can honestly say at the end of the day I just appreciate a cold beer, a good time, and nice view… That is the long version of saying, I don’t know where I would go.

How do you like to spend your time outdoors?

Most of my outdoor time can be spent at the beach, on a random hike/bike ride, or walking my dogs in my neighborhood. Because my profession customarily puts me at desk, I really try to spend as much time as I can outdoors. I love nature and all the wonderful things this planet has to offer, so I make it a part of my daily routine to step away from technology and go for a walk in the sun. I am also a freelance photographer, so it’s not uncommon to find me outdoors taking pictures of anything from local events to landscapes and wildlife.

How attracted are mosquitoes to you?

Not really sure how to answer that, but if you’re asking if I’m immune to mosquito bites, I’m not. They are terrible. They are a nuisance and can really kill the outdoor vibe.

If you were shipwrecked, what three items would you want to land on shore with you?

  1. 4-6 inch fixed blade knife
  2. Fire Starter (Flint and Steel)
  3. Volleyball

Mosquito Joe has Teamed up With Nothing But Nets for MCAW 2018!

Did you know mosquito fossils date back as far as 100 million years ago? Yep, they’ve been around a long time so they aren’t going anywhere. Their journey from egg to adulthood is a short one; it only takes 4-7 days until they become biting adults. But in truth, not all mosquitoes bite. Only female mosquitoes bite because they need protein to lay eggs. They’re capable of laying 100 to 300 at a time. That’s right, 100-300 eggs, and they average about 1,000-3,000 in their lifetime. With these large numbers of mosquitoes come life-threatening diseases which are present in many countries across the world. Through our philanthropic efforts, Mosquito Joe is fighting back and making a difference by continuing our partnership with a national organization called Nothing But Nets. Our partnership with Nothing But Nets was launched a year ago because we know mosquitoes are more than just an annoyance, they’re a real health problem around the world. And today, witnessing what we can achieve together, we are more motivated than ever before.

What have we achieved together, you ask? In the past 12 months, between the MoJo Bites Back campaign and the Beat the Bloodsuckers campaign, 376 Mosquito Joe customers and franchisees have raised an incredible $28,405! Thanks to these efforts, Nothing But Nets was able to send 2,836 bed nets, protecting nearly 6,000 children in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean from malaria. We think that is truly astounding and hope you do too!

Mosquito Joe has Teamed up With Nothing But Nets Campaign for Mosquito Control Awareness Week 2018!

Mosquito Control Awareness Week | Beat Those Bloodsuckers!
This year National Mosquito Control Awareness Week (MCAW) is June 24-June 30. MCAW is a time to educate the general public about the significance of mosquitoes in daily life and the important services provided by mosquito control workers. Mosquito Joe will be raising money through our Beat the Bloodsuckers campaign to send these life-saving nets to families across the globe. For every new customer serviced during Mosquito Control Awareness week, Mosquito Joe will donate a bed net to Nothing But Nets. Help us Beat the Bloodsuckers and make a difference this Mosquito Control Awareness Week by signing up for service. A net will be donated for you or you can simply make a personal donation. Meet a Joe: Jacqui Sienkiewicz

*Occasionally we like to provide a blog post that will help you get to know Joe. From our technicians to our Corporate staff to our hardworking franchisees – we think our company is full of people you ought to know!*

This week we’d like to introduce you to a member of the Corporate staff, Jacqui Sienkiewicz. A Hampton Roads native, Jacqui just joined our team this month as a Search Engine Marketing Specialist. She graduated from Longwood University (Go Lancers!) with an English Degree, and has  worked in digital marketing for the past five years with a focus on SEO & PPC campaigns. She will be working with our Mosquito Joe franchise owners across the country to maintain their websites and overall digital presence.

Here are some fun facts about Jacqui, so you can get to know her like we have!

What led you to work for Mosquito Joe?

I was looking for a position where I could truly contribute to the company and make a difference. I also wanted to find a great team environment. When I interviewed with MoJo, I knew I had found a job with both. Plus, everyone here is genuinely nice – bonus!

What is your favorite part about your position at Mosquito Joe?

I get to be analytical with data but also creative in the way that the data is presented and in how the work is performed.

What are the biggest strengths professionally that you bring to the Mosquito Joe team?

I always want to keep learning and growing professionally. I love finding out about all aspects of how Mosquito Joe works and then determining the way I can best contribute to future success.

What’s your favorite Mosquito Joe tagline and why?

“Should You Decide Not To Call Us, Save This Card For Swatting” …it’s funny AND useful!

If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play you and why?

Tom Hanks in a wig. Tom Hanks is down to earth and charming. Plus, he can play anyone.

If you could plan your ultimate vacation, where would you go?

Tokyo! The art, the fashion, the technology – I think it would be like visiting another planet.

How do you like to spend your time outdoors?

I know it’s hard to tell, but I actually spend a ton of time at the beach during the summer (SPF 100, y’all). I also enjoy riding my bike on the Elizabeth River Trail and exploring local parks.

How attracted are mosquitoes to you?

As Lloyd Christmas, from Dumb & Dumber, would say …”they like me ahh-lawt”

If you were shipwrecked, what three items would you want to land on shore with you?

Sunscreen, husband, iPhone. (Yes, in that order). Sunscreen because I’d die two days in without it. Husband because someone has to entertain me. iPhone because something has to entertain me when my husband needs a nap.

If you could invite three people to a party, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

Oprah because I love everything about her. Edgar Allan Poe because I studied him a lot throughout college, and my Mama, because someone has to back up the fact that I just met Oprah & EAP!

Southern States Still Operating

With many Mosquito Joe locations winding down for the winter months, some of our southern locations still experiencing warm temperatures will remain open throughout the year. The average temperatures in southern states will stay consistently between 60 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit, which means mosquitoes will remain active and continue to be a nuisance in the coming months.

If you’re in the following states, you may find our yellow and green technicians continuing to keep your surrounding areas itch-free:
o Florida
o Georgia
o Louisiana
o Mississippi
o Texas

Mosquito Joe is proud to offer effective and affordable mosquito control services for both residential and commercial spaces. Within 30 minutes of application, our barrier spray eliminates bites for 21 days. Our technicians can treat standing water areas and rid your yard of mosquito larvae, which stops their life cycle right in its tracks.

Fleas and ticks shouldn’t be forgotten either! Flea and tick control is another service we offer here at Mosquito Joe. Deer ticks are responsible for spreading Lyme disease, and the number of adult deer ticks is higher in the fall than it is during any other time of year. Fleas also transmit nasty diseases and cause a painful itch for your family and your pets, not to mention they’re really hard to eliminate once they enter your home.

Did you know Mosquito Joe can spray your special events? Weddings, barbecues, and reunions are popular events to have sprayed. Whether it’s your home or a favorite venue, preventing mosquitoes from being on your guest list will have your family and friends thanking you on their way out.

Remember to call your local Mosquito Joe to make your yard an itch-free space all year round. Mosquitoes can breed and thrive until temperatures are consistently below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, which won’t happen in the south! So contact your local Mosquito Joe for a free quote and information about our mosquito, flea, and tick services.
